The direction of the projects' activities is informed and advised by a National Steering Committee made up of Principals Australia Council representatives, Principal Association representatives and Indigenous educators who have a National profile.

 Patrons of Dare to Lead  

Dare to Lead has two co-patrons: Professor Peter Buckskin and Mrs May O'Brien

Professor Peter Buckskin is Dean and Head of School of the David Unaipon College of Indigenous College of Education and Research within the Division of Education, Arts and Social Sciences, at the University of South Australia.

May O'Brien is a long-standing statesperson within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education. She has lived and worked within Aboriginal education systems for more than four decades, and although officially retired, continues to be an active advocate for improving the educational outcomes of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children.
