 National Events for 2012  

The Dare to Lead conference titled '2025: Building Strong Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students for their future' was held on Friday 11th May 2012 at the Rydges Lakeside Hotel in Canberra. A total of 160 participants attended the conference.

The conference report and presentations will be posted shortly.


The second Dare to Lead conference will be held on Friday 7 September in Brisbane
, further details regarding this conference will be posted at a later date.

Awards and Updates at National Area Conference

Over 100 educators from every corner of Australia converged on Brisbane in early June 2010 for an update on the Dare to Lead project and an insight into some of the outstanding work occurring on the ground. For details of the event including presentations click here.

"Successful Classrooms for Indigenous Students" Curriculum, Pedagogy, Ways of Learning, Relationships, Culture, Identity and Community - What is the right mix?".

The first 2010 Dare to Lead National Conference was held in Brisbane on 3 June. More than 250 delegates were treated to a wide range of practical strategies, challenging presentations and thoughtful reflections around the theme. To read the full report, click here.

 National Events for 2009  

National Action Area Conference - Partnership Builds Success Official Launch

The new phase of Dare to Lead was officially launched in Adelaide on 14 June 2009. Educators and Indigenous leaders from across Australia converged for the event which began with Welcome to Country given by Kaurna Elder Uncle Lewis O'Brien.  Action Areas  

There were 112 Action Areas established across Australia by November 30 2007 and this table includes the Action Areas in remote locations, but does not include the Tri-State Remotes Action Area (approximately 60 schools in Western Australia, South Australia, the Northern Territory)
